Ajit Pawar, 66, was flying from Mumbai to his
Baramati constituency for election campaigning
when the Learjet 45 crash-landed around 8:45
a.m. on Wednesday amid dense fog. The five
aboard-Pawar, his security officer, attendant,
and two pilots-perished in the post-impact fire,
with no survivors confirmed by India's DGCA.
Leaders across parties, including PM Modi and
opposition figures, paid tribute to Pawar's
decades-long career as an eight-time MLA and
five-time deputy chief minister, while a probe
examines fog, technical issues, and the operator's
history.
